Jason Apostoleris - Drums Jason Allen Apostoleris was born in New Hyde Park, New York on August 8th, 1963, and started drumming at the early age of five. With encouragement from his older brothers and sisters, who were then teenagers in the late sixties, Jason was infected by the music of the Beatles, Santana, Cream and the Motown classics before ever hearing about Sesame Street. Lessons by the local club pro, and playing backyard parties were his main diet, before entering Nassau Community College where he played with the NCC Big Band and a variety of other combo groups under the direction and inspiration of jazz director, George Bouchard. In 1990, Jason attended the New School for Jazz Studies in New York City. There he had the opportunity to study and play with such master artists as Arnie Lawrence, REggie Workman, Bernard Perdie, Walter Davis, Jr., Bill Harper, Marcus Miller, Bross Townsend, and many others. In additional to various workshops and off campus playing situations, credits include Off-Broadway musicals and two recording sessions directed and produced by Reggie Workman and Bernard Perdie. In 1995, Jason was in the studio recording with Celtic flutist, Sean Grace. The CD is called Celtic Voyage and features some of Jason's tasty drum work. Driving backbeats, layered soloing and military snare work; it's all on there. The CD release was followed by a well-received concert headlining at the Intermedia Arts Center (IMAC), with Kathie Kreger opening, and all sponsored by Amnesty International. Currently, Jason maintains a strong commitment to his drums and to serving music through his drumming style. His style is very much his own, smooth and sophisticated, modern yet authentic and always with taste to spare. Jason is married with two sons who are definitely following in their dad's footsteps. Both are already accomplished musicians. Jason has made an incredible addition to Run for Cover!
