 Todd Guertin

Todd Guertin - Drums

Todd's specialty is percussion, but he is also the lead vocalist for several songs the band performs, and lends a hand with backup vocals on most of the others. Aside from drums, Todd plays guitar-(12)string and (6) string acoustic.

Todd has quite a history as a musician. He started out in a three piece oldies band, “Summit St” of Willimantic at age 17 for 3 yrs. He then started “Mirage” which lasted about two years, went through multiple personnel changes and became “Voices” which lasted about 3 yrs. By that point, Todd took a couple of years off to finish his degrees, got married and started a family.

When Todd decided to get back into performing, he became involved with a couple of professional musicians from Hartford and joined “Fat Tuesday.” This was the most hardworking, profitable band he was in for a period of about 5 yrs. The Bass player and Todd ended up in a band called First Class. When that ended about a year later, Todd got involved with some of the guys from Caruso Music in New London and formed a band called "Groove Approved." Finally, Todd made appearances with several other local bands: “The Saints,” “Flat Rock,” and “Shooting Star Band.”

Todd GuertinTodd doesn't pin his musical tastes down to a particular genre, but likes all music. "Anything interesting, clean, and creative." Todd's greatest strength as a musician is his versatility. He has an exceptional gift for timing/rhythm which is a necessity for a drummer. But he also has a keen ear for pitch. If you wonder where all those great-sounding backup vocals are coming from when you hear Run For Cover, take a look behind the drum kit! Most of the time, Todd is playing and singing.

A long-time member of the Mohegan Striders, Todd has an impressive running background too. His fastest mile was in high school. He was clocked at 4:18. His fastest 5k was 15:40. You could say that his versatility was a strength in running as well as music. Not only did he have the speed for the shorter distances, he has several Marathons under his belt, including: East Lyme, Hartford, and R. I. He says he hates running in crowded races but loves the large spectator crowds. At this point in his life, Todd is more involved with his kids' sports, and devotes his time to them. He coaches and runs the Norwich PAL (Police Athletic League) board.
