Chris Hansen - Guitars Ever since he saw a rock band for the first time, at the Montville Harvest Festival, Chris has wanted to play guitar in a band. So the same month he got his drivers license, he also started guitar lessons. Twenty-four years later the interest is even greater. Luckily for him the members of his high school track team were into bands that provided a long lasting foundation. Groups like the Rolling Stones and Beatles were mixed with U2, The Cars, Boston, Tom Petty and all the other 80’s bands. Chris plays guitar and will play a little keyboards if they make him. His first band, “Last Summer” as well as “RUN For Cover” was made up of his running friends. Running and friends seemed to form the foundation for forming his bands and musical tastes. The college track team had guys who DJ ’d at the college radio station. They introduced Chris to punk, reggae and music out of the mainstream. Eventually it all came together when he delved into the Blues, the root of most music. Chris’s accomplishments on the running scene started with his St. Bernard High School Saints winning the state cross-country championships. Then Chris became the top runner, all four years, at the College of the Holy Cross, running 15:05 for 5km, 31:51 for 10km. After college Chris added cycling to his repertoire, and made the USA Duathlon team, (run, bike, run), and compete in the World Duathlon Championships three times and earn an All-American ranking. Three years ago Chris took up swimming so that he could compete in triathlons, (after Laurie egged him on to try one if she tried one too). In his second year of racing triathlons Chris earned a USA Triathlon All-American Status, an accomplishment he was very proud of due to never being able to swim prior to his triathlon training. Fast forward to present day when a running injury turned into an opportunity to learn how to design and build custom tube amplifiers. While spending time recovering from an injury Chris decided to build a lighter guitar amp to save his back. Three tube amps later and it’s a minor obsession, amps built in the style of 50’s-60’s Fenders. Look for his creations on stage and check out the Hansen Amplification Web Site.
