Laurie Schaeffer - Vocals/Webmaster Music and running have been forever intertwined in this lead vocalist's life. Laurie got her start in music with piano/keyboards. She took piano lessons for many years from Mrs. Jessie Kelley of Mystic, CT, wife of John Kelley, Boston Marathon winner, 1957. During high school, Laurie was a Cross Country/Track runner, and sang in the Fitch Sr. High School Concert Choir and Chamber Choir. It was in high school that Laurie began singing in bands, and found she enjoyed Rock & Roll singing more than any other style of music. In the eighties, she played keyboard for "The Toyz" and sang in a couple of other bands. Singing took a back seat for a number of years as Laurie worked on a career in computers and started a family, but she sang at weddings, family functions and church occasionally. When Laurie became involved with the Mohegan Striders, she jumped at the opportunity to join a band full of runners (combining both life-long passions).
